Yzenas receives prestigious Prevost Hubbard Award

John Yzenas, Edward C. Levy Company technical services director, received the 2018 Prevost Hubbard Award at the ASTM International Conference on Dec. 6 in Washington, D.C. The award, presented annually, honors a member or former member of Committee D04 on Road and Paving Materials who has performed outstanding work in the committee and in the field of bituminous road and paving materials.

“For 26 years, John has been an advocate for the ASTM community and provided reputable leadership and guidance in the development of standards,” said Randy Weingart, NSSGA director of engineering and technical policy. “His work has made a significant impact within the committee and has left an impressive legacy of improved standards for roads and paving.”

After serving in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War, Yzenas began his career in the aggregates industry. He joined the Edward C. Levy Company in 1990 successfully implemented a technical marketing division for the company. Yzenas brought his expertise to the ASTM Committee, participating in 21 committees and subcommittees, holding various offices within ASTM and advocating for more than 50 work items. “It is through John’s active participation within the committee and hard work on these standards that we see the true dedication he has given to ASTM and the use of sustainable products. I am glad to see that he is being recognized for his accomplishments,” said Weingart.

Established in 1972, the ASTM International Prevost Hubbard Award honors Prevost Hubbard, a distinguished member of Committee D04 for 63 years who served as committee secretary for 38 years.
