The HPOCA National Oliver Show is being held at The New York Steam Engine Assn. 56th annual Pageant of Steam, Aug. 10 to 13.
In addition to this event being the National Oliver Show, it is also the “100 years of Cletrac Show.” The feature tractor will be the Cletrac model F. It is expected to be the largest showing of Cletrac and Oliver crawlers plus hundreds of Oliver and Hart-Parr wheel tractors. Several significant Cletrac crawlers are expected to make a showing, including a 1916 Cleveland model R all the way from California, and a giant Cletrac model 100 from Alberta, Canada. There will also be many Oliver parts and memorabilia vendors.
This year marks 100 years since the founding of the Cleveland Tractor Company in 1916 by Rollin H. White. Cletrac crawler tractors were built until 1944 when the Oliver Corporation bought the company.
Oliver then built crawler tractors until 1965 when all crawler tractor production ceased. Over 50 years later there are still thousands of these fine machines in operation. The Oliver wheel tractors were built until 1975 when they were replaced by the White tractor line.
Ed Nageldinger of the Empire State Oliver Collectors says they are honored to host this event.
In addition to the Oliver-Cletrac feature, The Pageant of Steam Show features a wide range of activities with something of interest for every member of the family. This includes: many steam engines, large and small steam displays, hundreds of antique tractors and gas engines, model building, acres of flea market, daily parade of power, daily tractor pulls, antique construction equipment demonstrations, plus much more.
To round out the week, a banquet will be held on Friday night for all interested Oliver-Cletrac persons.
The keynote speaker for is Landis Zimmerman, an Oliver-Cletrac historian. The show site address is 3349 Gehan Road, Canandaigua, NY. To purchase tickets for the banquet, contact: Andrew Piscione 518-848-6191 or email ajpiscione@aol.com .
