OSC Manufacturing & Equipment Services, Inc. (OSC) was born out of the need for a free-standing arm of the OSC Group, according to Jon M. Williams, OSC President and CEO. With three locations in Buffalo, NY, Toronto, ON and Winnipeg, MB, the continued growth of OSC, a company devoted to specialty contracting including environmental and demolition contracting throughout the western hemisphere, brought about the creation of OSC Manufacturing & Equipment Services. The results are impressive.
“OSC started in 1997 as environmental and demolition contractors,” said Lenny Kostelnik, general manager of OSC Manufacturing & Equipment Services, at the company’s recent open house event. “Over the years, the equipment was repaired and serviced at our Ganson Street location in Buffalo; but as the company grew, and we continued to acquire more equipment, we began to have growing pains. As the company expanded, we not used the heavy equipment on our own projects, but we also rented it out to other contractors.”
“In 2009, OSC Manufacturing & Equipment Services became its own company. That was when Mr. Williams began looking for a location where we could expand our rental services at the same time we were manufacturing our line of C&D attachments, such as our concrete pulverizers and grapples. In 2012, OSC acquired the Delavan Avenue location, the old American Axle Plant that had ceased manufacturing and had been closed. Plans for upgrades and outfitting the facility with improvements went into place; and in January 2013, we moved this business to the new location. OSC’s C&D operations still are located at the Ganson Street location,” he said.
Kostelnik explained that OSC Manufacturing & Equipment Services is many things to the construction industry. They repair heavy equipment. They design and manufacture a line of excavator attachments including concrete pulverizers of several sizes, as well as grapples for excavators from minis to the largest C&D applications. They also fabricate long-reach and high-reach booms for excavators to meet the need for C&D recycling contractors where those tools are the most effective.
Additionally, they will custom design and fabricate or repair other items such as pins and demolition protection packages for existing equipment.
“We are new equipment dealers for Link-Belt, Bell Trucks and SANY, and an attachment line of products,” said Kostelnik. “We also have a sizable and diverse construction equipment rental fleet. We offer excavators, dozers, articulated off-road trucks, rubber tire loaders and other specialty equipment like track mounted jaw crushers, aggregate screen plants, truck scales, and all kinds of equipment. For example, we have more than 30 hydraulic shears for recyclers in our fleet.”
“The OSC manufacturing and fabrication area is also outfitted with the latest equipment including a 75-ton press break, a DOOSAN DNM 650II Machining Center and a Koike Aronson, Inc./Ransome Plate-Pro plasma cutter. We also have a parts inventory that includes a full line of Gates Belts, teeth for buckets and drilling support parts including bits,” Kostelnik added.
According to their new website, www.oscequipment.com, OSC service and repair includes everything “From a new battery to an in-field rebuild of a main hydraulic pump (on any make or model). If you break a hydraulic hose or split the track on the machine, need an air filter or an engine re-build, are missing a grease fitting or need new bushings , or whether the bucket pin is missing, broken or stuck, OSC has the stock machining skill set and mechanical experience to address all of your needs. OSC knows that the part or the repair has an impact on your ability to work, and we will do everything we can to make sure that you are up and running.” There’s not much more to say!
