Community leaders and state government officials joined Northeast Prestressed Products September 23 to celebrate the commissioning of a number of capital improvements at their manufacturing facility in Cressona, PA. Following plant tours of the concrete beam and decking fabrication facility, visitors gathered for a dedication ceremony and ribbon cutting that highlighted NPP’s commitment to the local community. Noting that more than 75 new jobs have been created in the past three years, company president Tom Koons said the improvements to the manufacturing plant and delivery fleet will set the stage for a bright future as the nation and more specifically, the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic regions, work to improve the highways and bridges in the coming years.
With the addition of a new, fully computerized concrete batch plant, a new 70-ton Mi-Jack straddle carrier for product loading, nine new steerable girder transport units as well as several other internal plant improvements to meet bridge designers’ needs for building and transporting longer and heavier bridge girders and decking. Be sure to watch for complete coverage of the plant tour in an upcoming issue of North American Quarry News.
